Disguised as an ornament on a keyring, Carlos takes the keyring bomb through security at Miami International Airport. After gaining entry to the airport runways, Carlos attaches this small bomb to the underside of a petrol tanker. However whilst fighting with Bond, the bomb is removed from the tanker and attached to Carlos’ belt without his knowledge. When Bond manages to stop the petrol tanker from running into the Skyfleet S570 prototype, Carlos smugly knows he can still complete his mission. Activating the detonator on his mobile, Carlos hears the bomb charging and realises what Bond has done all too late.
After returning to the Bahamas from Miami, M decides to know what Bond is up to and where. An unknown member of MI6 arrives (possibly an early version of the character of Major Boothroyd/Q) and opens up a briefcase. He gets a large and rather unpleasant looking device as he holds it to Bonds arm and injects a small chip. Bond then puts his arm through the scanner in the briefcase. An X-ray style display is seen on a screen in the briefcase of Bonds arm, with details about his location, heart rate and other information.
Much later M and other MI6 officials use the information gathered by the chip to work out what has poisoned Bond, and thus advise him accordingly as to how to counteract the poison. The chip is removed when Le Chiffre captures Bond so he cannot be traced.
