The Cigar Girl played by Maria Grazia Cucinotta is the second villain of The World Is Not Enough. Whilst Bond is discussing matters with Mr Lachaise, the Cigar Girl offers Bond a cigar, and then hands him a statement concerning Sir Robert King’s money.
Just as Bond is about to get the information he needs out of Mr Lachaise, the Cigar Girl murderers him and escapes.
After the Lapel Transmitter has detonated inside MI6, Bond spots the Cigar Girl waiting aboard her Sunseeker on the Thames through a hole in the wall. After being shot at, Bond steals the Q-Boat and makes pursuit. The Cigar Girl throws everything she has at Bond - she uses a machine gun, grenade launcher and her driving skill to stop and evade 007. The Cigar Girl manages to escape, but with the help of the Q-Boat Bond plots an intercept course briefly through the streets of London, ending up back in the Thames outside the Millennium Dome. After stealing a hot-air balloon Bond manages to use the Q-Boat to grab one of the ropes dangling from the balloon. The Cigar Girl is reluctant to tell Bond who she’s working for, and rather commits suicide by igniting one of the balloons gas containers forcing Bond to let go of the rope.
Extremely seductive and sexy, the Cigar Girl is a stunning femme fatale. She’s experienced in handling and firing different types of weaponry, and does so throughout the chase down the Thames. Having very little dialogue in the film, little else is learnt about the Cigar Girl. §
