Boris Grishenko played by Alan Cumming is the fourth villain of Goldeneye. Friendly with Natalya Fyodorovna Simonova whilst both working at the Severnaya Space Facility, Boris does nothing to warn his ‘friend’ of the incoming massacre from Xenia Zaragevna Onatopp and General Arkady Grigorovich Ourumov.
When General Ourumov finds out that Natalya has survived, he gets Boris to use his friendship with Natalya to get her to meet him where he kidnaps her with the help of Xenia.
In the final scenes of the film Boris positions the antenna transmitter so it can signal the Goldeneye Satellite that the target is London. After Natalya breaks into the mainframe computer she changes the access codes, leaving Boris locked out of the system with the Satellite retro rockets firing. Under orders to break the code and stop the satellite from re-entering the atmosphere and burning up, Boris is held at gunpoint by one of Alec Trevelyan’s men. However Boris can do little when Bond manages to stop the antenna moving at its source. The computer genius speaks too soon when he exclaims, “I am invincible!" after surviving the destruction of Alec’s base when he is frozen solid by a wave of liquid nitrogen.
Boris Grishenko is very sure of himself with an over-inflated ego. Confident of his own talents, Boris enjoys the power given to him as he controls the computers at the heart of Alec Trevelyan’s plan. Boris sarcastically insults Natalya’s intelligence when he is informed that she had access to the mainframe computer. However he is put in his place when he finds Natalya has locked him out by changing the access codes. §
